What's your favorite Wallace video?
Can't say, I haven't seen them all yet
Have you met Wallace in person?
No but I'd like to.
About Me:
I'm a programmer for a University here in Texas and I am half way to 116 years old. The dog in my arms was found on a street coner the 1st of December 2006. It had been 19F that morning and there he sat, bony, listless. My Vet said he had Parvo. After three days of IV fluids, antibiotics and little bits of food he was saved from death and i had me another dog, He made #4. Did not have a clue what he was till he got a bit bigger. When it became evident that he was going to grow up to be a Pitbull (maybe pure, probably "mostly") I did become a bit antsy but after doing some research and talking to people I shed the fears and began to enjoy the dog for the dog that he is. Strong as an ox, friendly as they come, smart too! Loves to play fetch with his squeaky toy. After seeing Wallace the Pit Bull do his thing I want to see if he can do some of that too.

If it doesn't kill you it will make you stronger.
So I named him Parvo the Barbarian. He'll be two in September 2008, he weighs 70 lbs, he is a happy dog and gets along well with my other three dogs.

Best regards,
Marcus Hill

I did see that, and that's awesome! Hopefully places with BSL will start to follow their lead.

Sounds like a great day. That's great that the dogs did so well. Good luck for the event in October if you can pull it together.

Greetings all,
My wife and I plus all the dogs went off to the Paws & Claws ( 1st annual ) run/walk-a-thon for the local shelter at the park by our lake here in Wichita Falls, Texas. A great success and I am happy as can be with the way my dogs behaved themselfs. I was a bit leary about how they would take to other dogs as they haven't really been around any but themselves. It was great! I was concerned about Parvo and in particular Daisy as she has in the past been a bit defensive when meeting other dogs ( and people to) at the pet store. But it was all sniffs and wags and high, howdy, how are you so I still have a warmy fuzzy feeling about it all.
And now i find that there is a Pitbull appreciation day come October. Hmmm, I'll have to see about that. We are a city of 100k people, we ought to be able to get a turn out if we try.
More later,
Marcus

Hello Roo,
I was watching your latest set of vids, Very nicely done I really like your trip on the "pitbull owner = criminal sort" article. Great stuff and a nicely done National Anthem tpp.

Thanks for the suggestion of k9disc site. I went there and spent some time watching the instructional vids and reading the Q&A articles. Lots of help there and I'll go back for refreshers as Parvo and I work on this.
We went out to the park ( we don't have a dog park ) and tried some throws at a greater distance than I can do in the back yard. he'd chase out there and almost have the disc and stop dead in his tracks to investigate a smell. tried a good dozen throws and got the same result mostly. So we went for a walk around the duck pond. it wasn't till after we got back home that I thought of doing close in work to instill that 'focus on the disc' attitude in Parvo. In the back yard he is all over that disc but I think there are too many distractions at the park for him to focus. We'll have to work on that so I am off to do some more reading and watching. And here I thought we had the 'toss and catch' part licked, burst my bubble real quick. :-) he is still a better catch than I am a throw. More later.
Best regards,
Marcus Hill

Have you checked out www.k9disc.com ? If not, definitely worth your while. Retrieving to your hand is not a bad thing at all for toss and catch. It all depends really, but you could simply have different commands for retrieving to the hand and just dropping it instead of changing it up completely.
